Zach McDermott was nothing short of phenomenal for the Adirondack Lumberjacks. The 22-year-old right-hander was a big reason his team beat the DeKalb Cornhuskers, 6-0. The winning pitcher was McDermott, now 7-8. He tossed 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 5. The 5th-place Lumberjacks are 69-88.

Steve Reid hit a 2-run home run off Dave Kavanagh in the bottom of the fourth, which put the Lumberjacks ahead, 2-0. In addition to the homer, Reid had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.

"A great team win and something real positive we can build on," said McDermott after the game.
