Black Bears Win 9-8 Nail-Biter Versus Bulldogs
|
Spokane designated hitter Justin Stadtlander had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 9-8, to Fraser Valley in 11 innings. Stadtlander went 3-6 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 7 RBI and scoring once. The winner in relief was Arturo Cendejas. He is now 3-3. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. The Black Bears have now won 6 straight.
The decisive blow was delivered by Travis Stiff in the bottom of the 11th when he hit a solo home run off 17-year old right-handed pitcher Ernie Nielsen to win the game for Fraser Valley. The home crowd went nuts.
"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Stiff.
