Bulldogs Scratch Out 1-0 Win

The Spokane Bulldogs picked up a win at The Kennel, courtesy of Guillermo Villareal. The left-hander helped his team stop the Sandy Springs Spartans, 1-0. Villareal picked up the win for Spokane, going 7.2 innings. He gave up no runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 7-10. Ernie Nielsen got the save, his 28th in 33 chances.
Mike Turnquist was 1-3 for Spokane. The 23-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Joe McGinnity. It was his 7th RBI of the season.
"Not everyone likes pitching duels," said Turnquist. "But I do."
The victory puts Spokane at 55-99.
