Cornhuskers Get Hard-Earned Win, Stop Pipe Fitters, 4-3
|
DeKalb beat Niagara Falls at Pipe Fitters Park, escaping with a 4-3 win. The win in large part was due to left fielder Jeremy Cunningham. He went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. John Kibler recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 10 for 17. The Cornhuskers improved their record to 68-81 with the win over Niagara Falls.
Had Cunningham not come through in the top of the ninth, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Cunningham hit a run-scoring single. The Cornhuskers took the lead, 4-3, and never looked back.
In postgame remarks, Cunningham hailed his team's "grit."
