Starting pitcher Jonathan Millsap pitched well enough to help the Jacksonville Pilots beat the Maple Marauders, 4-3. Millsap yielded 3 runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 8. His record improves to 12-2. Tyler Martin locked down his 33rd save.
Jacksonville needed the clutch hitting of Luis Velez to seal the deal. The first baseman swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Pilots on top, 4-3. For the game, Velez had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I thought Jonathan threw the ball well across the board," said Jacksonville manager Ryan Currie.
The Pilots have a one-game lead in the Thurman Munson League East Division.
