5 Straight Wins for Pioneers
|
Though he had a terrific game, Jim Sheesley could not prevent his team, the San Francisco Earthquakes, from absorbing a loss. Vancouver won the game, 7-3. Sheesley was 3-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Jose Calderon was the winner. Over 8.1 innings, he yielded 3 runs on 7 hits, with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts. Vancouver has a mark of 7-3 after the win.
Bobby Banuelos, who finished 5th in the TML in RBI with 87 in 2058, took San Francisco hurler Travis Crane deep in the bottom of the first. His 2-run home run put the Pioneers on top, 2-0. In all, Banuelos had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"No time for flexing," said Banuelos. "It's always one game at a time."
