Earthquakes Lose to Blazers, 3-1
|
The Bloomington Blazers faced a tough opponent in San Francisco pitcher Tim Boyd, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Golden Gate Park by a final score of 3-1. Boyd went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. Jason Phillips recorded the save, his 3rd. Bloomington has a mark of 6-4 after the win.
Lateef Zitouna came through with a big-time hit for Bloomington. The right fielder smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Coulda, shoulda, woulda," said San Francisco manager Bill DesMarais. "We had our chances and didn't cash in."
