Texans Win in Extras, 4-3
|
Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at The Corral.
El Paso wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Edwin Serna, falling to the Dallas Texans, 4-3. Serna threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Chris Nugent earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 4 innings. He upped his record to 4-7.
Dallas used the timely hitting of Esteban Bermudez to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 12th inning to put the Texans on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"There's no quit in this team," said Texans manager Lester Burrow.
Their 50-60 record puts the Texans 5th in the Roberto Clemente League Central Division.
