Spartans Scratch Out 2-0 Win
|
In a tight tilt between Sandy Springs and Atlantic City, pitcher Patrick Perillo was a key contributor. The left-hander earned accolades for his standout performance in the 2-0 Spartans win. Perillo got the win, improving to 14-9. He gave up 2 hits and walked 3 over 7.2 innings. He allowed no runs. The save went to Josh Wahl, his 36th this season.
The game was on the line with two out in the top of the eighth inning, but John Burgess didn't flinch. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and Atlantic City trailing 2-0, Burgess retired Justin Millender to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Burgess, with a wink.
After today's action, Sandy Springs sits at 75-66, while Atlantic City falls to 47-94.
