Havana Wins at Home to Narrow Series Deficit to 3-1
|
On the verge of being swept and facing a red-hot Bloomington Blazers team, Bob Tamez had a tough assignment. He delivered.
The Havana Stogies right-hander dominated the hosts, tossing 7.1 innings of shutout ball and guiding his club to its first victory of the series, 2-0. Tamez, 34, threw 7 innings of shutout ball in the contest. The win means Havana now trails 3-1 in the best-of-7 series.
Tamez delivered a quality start for Havana. The 6' 2" right-hander allowed no earned runs on 4 hits over 7.1 innings of work.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Havana skipper Ramón Torrez.
Game 5 is set to be played tomorrow at The Humidor. Slated to start are Victor Avila for Bloomington and Vida Blue Jr. for Havana.
