Traverse City first baseman Michael Bryant pounded Loachapoka Junebugs pitchers at The Royal Grounds, but it was not enough to keep the Beach Bums from falling, 6-5 in Game 1 of the Round 3. Bryant was 4 for 4 with 2 home runs and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice, though he couldn't keep the Beach Bums from slipping to a 1-0 deficit in the best-of-7 series.

The result might have been different, had it not been for John Weiden, the Loachapoka catcher. Weiden had a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Junebugs ahead, 6-3. For the game, Weiden had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"We'll enjoy this win," said Weiden. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Royal Grounds in Traverse City.
