Stogies Turn Back Manhattan, 2-0
|
Franklin Cruz, who finished 5th in the RCL in ERA with 2.79 in 2050, was terrific for the Havana Stogies in his team's 2-0 triumph over the Manhattan Slice. His performance earned Cruz rave reviews. The winning pitcher was Cruz, now 7-6. He tossed 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5. The second-place Stogies now sit at 50-41.
Havana used the hitting of Alex Espinosa to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Stogies on top, 2-0. For the game, Espinosa had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Cruz. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
