Tapia Slugs 2 Home Runs, Tornadoes Beat Butterflies, 10-5
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Kansas City Tornadoes and Pennsylvania Butterflies.
The 4-RBI night of right fielder Ramon Tapia, who is tied for 9th in the TML in runs scored with 62, helped the Kansas City Tornadoes triumph, 10-5, over the Pennsylvania Butterflies. Raymond Julien snagged the win in relief. He goes to 1-1 on the season. Josh Bailey suffered the loss.
The Butterflies had been locked in a 5-5 tie with the Tornadoes going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 29-year old shortstop Vinnie Fasnacht came to the plate. Fasnacht hit a run-scoring double on a first pitch curveball from Pennsylvania hurler Josh Bailey. It was Fasnacht's 25th double of the year.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Tapia. "You've got to get results."
The second-place Tornadoes go to 47-42.
