Big Day by Mitchell Ignites Miners Win
The Southern Illinois Miners topped the Trois-Rivieres Aigles, 6-3, with youngster Donovan Mitchell playing a key role. Mitchell hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Miners in the win. Carlos Vasquez closed it out for his 11th save. Southern Illinois is 4th in the Frontier League Midwestern Division with a record of 24-23.

One important at-bat came with runners on 2nd and 3rd in the top of the fifth inning. Facing Trois-Rivieres hurler Dave Longley, Gavin Garcia drew a walk. The Miners went on to win.

"There's a lot of fight left in this team," said Garcia.
