A strong performance from pitcher Steve Surprenant was not enough for the El Paso Mavericks, who were stopped by the visiting Chicago Eclipse, 3-2, in Game 5 of the Divisional Round. The Eclipse never truly figured out the right-handed Surprenant, who threw 6.0 innings allowing 3 runs. Still, the Eclipse now hold a 3-2 in the best-of-7 series.

Sean Martineau, who led the RCL in on-base percentage with .419 in 2065, chipped in a solo home run for Chicago in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 run batted in.

"We did enough to win," said Martineau.

Game 6 is scheduled for Tuesday at The Corral in El Paso.
