Gomez, Cougars Take Dramatic Game 3 for 2-1 Series Lead
As the Victoria Cougars and Toronto Blue Jays battled through extra innings, it was a rookie who made the difference.

Young Victoria center fielder Manny Gomez, 21 led the way with a strong hitting performance in the 10-inning marathon. Gomez went 3 for 5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 2 during the 11-10 Victoria win over the Blue Jays. The win gives the Cougars a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 League Championship Series.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the tenth. With one out, Gomez hit a slider from Allen Justice for a solo home run. The Cougars, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"We came out aggressive," said Cougars manager Tony Varela. "We came out swinging the bats."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Cougars Park in Victoria.
