Griffin Goes Off, But Boulders Win
|
The Washington Wild Things got a superb performance from first baseman Bob Griffin. Still, it wasn't enough to beat New York. The Boulders won the game, 12-7. In spite of the loss, Griffin was named the player of the game. He was 3-5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. New York reliever Ken Stevens was the winner. His record is now 4-1. Kevin Souza took the loss. Washington, at 17-21, has lost 4 straight.
Juan Tafoya, who is tied for 7th in the FL with a .602 slugging percentage, came through for New York with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the fifth. The designated hitter went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and collected 2 runs batted in.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Tafoya.
