Sabercats Plugged by Giffen, Pirates, 10-0
|
The Sedona Sabercats were almost helpless in their 10-0 loss to the Paradise Island Pirates and hurler Dan Giffen. Giffen kept the Sabercats confused all game, spinning a 4-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Giffen," Sedona manager said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 19-year-old right-hander had no walks and 14 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Giffen said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
This season, Giffen has rung up 15 wins and 2 losses in 21 games. He has an ERA of 1.44 and has fanned 228 batters in 162.2 innings.
