Balderas Stars for Varmits in 6-4 Win
|
Jose Balderas knocked in 3 runs to help Yuma beat Montreal, 6-4. Balderas produced 1 single, 1 double, and 1 home run. Alfredo Herrera notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3 innings. His record now sits at 5-1. Joel Valrie sewed up the save, his 25th.
Had Antonio Perales not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Perales hit a 2-run single. That made the score 6-4, in favor of the Varmits.
"We're feeling good in this clubhouse right now after that one," Balderas told the Yuma Citizen.
The setback makes Montreal 100-57.
