Two good teams met in a late-season showdown.

Riding the 3-hit performance of the 19-year old second baseman Mike Goodpaster, the Coronado Islanders stopped the Montreal Cardinals, 9-2. Angel Ochoa snagged the win in relief. He goes to 4-1 on the season. Melvin Muniz suffered the loss.

Allen Spoto helped his team take an early lead with a 2-run single. It came in the first inning, making the score 3-0, Islanders.

"We took it on the chin tonight," said losing manager Emmanuel Even.

Coronado is now 90-68, Montreal 100-57.
