Caribbean Absorbs 6-1 Loss to Thunder Bay
|
The skies opened up and the rain fell at Lightning Grove.
The Thunder Bay Lighting dealt the Caribbean Commies a 6-1 loss at Lightning Grove. Leo Garcia was the star on offense. He went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The winner was Luke Bentley in relief. His record improves to 4-1. Edwin Preciado took the loss. Chris Coronado notched his 2nd save of the season.
Thunder Bay catcher Juan Corpus contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a fastball to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 143rd hit of the season and put the Lighting ahead, 2-0.
Corpus told a Thunder Bay Gazette reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
Thunder Bay raised its record to 98-60 with the win.
