Nutcrackers first baseman Danny Sanchez left his mark on his team's 9-6 win over the Yuma Varmits. Sanchez was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for Normal in the contest. Bengie Giron snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits over 4.2 innings. He's now 4-1 on the season. Mario Abundis closed the game out for Normal, earning his 10th save.

Tony Montolla helped out the Normal cause in the top of the sixth inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the shortstop drew 2 walks in 5 trips to the plate.

"Anytime you're seeing it well, it's a good feeling," Sanchez told the Normal Bulletin.

The Nutcrackers improved their record to 62-91 by beating Yuma.
