The Jackels grabbed a win, 5-3, at Rocketmen Ballpark, overcoming a fine effort from Evansville pitcher Jesse Reaves. Reaves went 5.1 innings and allowed 1 earned run. New Jersey reliever Geoff English was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Doug Gleixner took the loss. Shane Anderson, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
George Richardson was vital part of the New Jersey win. He went 2-5 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the seventh with two out, Richardson hit a run-scoring single. It made the score 4-3, in favor of the Jackels.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said New Jersey manager Ian Collins.
The 4th-place Jackels now have a win-loss record of 12-9.
