Puente Excels in 12-9 Quebec Win
The bad news for the Chicago Eclipse: an opening day loss, 12-9, to the Quebec Armada at Millennium Field. The good news: it was just game one in a long season. No one played better than Fernando Puente. He was 4 for 4 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Justin Jenks, the winning pitcher, is now 1-0. He went 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits, while fanning 6 and walking 2.

With Quebec leading 8-2 in the top of the seventh, Puente came up to bat against Chicago pitcher Travis Wilson. Puente hit a splitter to left-center for a bases-clearing double. His 1st double of the season put the Armada on top, 11-2.

"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Puente said.
