The exploits of pinch hitter Jose Baez helped the Brooklyn Cyclones defeat the Rockville Rangers, 3-2. Baez was 1 for 1 with a home run. Jose Acuna earned the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 3.1 innings. He upped his record to 6-4. Joe Bauer earned the save, his 19th, for the Cyclones.

Baez had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 2-1 fastball from Rod Alvarado, he banged a solo home run to right, giving the Cyclones a 3-2 lead. It was the 8th home run of the year for Baez.

"If you ever get this game figured out," said Rockville manager Bill Gallagher, "let me know."

Brooklyn now sits at 99-53, while Rockville falls to 105-46.
