Thrilling Walk-Off Win for Y'alls
|
The Florence Y'alls trumped the Sussex County Miners, 7-6, at Gunners Ballpark. Florence left fielder Elijah Caldwell was named player of the game for his performance. He was 2-4 with a home run, a triple, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. The Miners, now 7-13, have lost 4 in a row.
Caldwell had a game-changing triple in the bottom of the 11th. On a 2-0 cutter from Chris Sanker, he banged a run-scoring triple to center, giving the Y'alls a 7-6 lead. It was the 2nd triple of the year for Caldwell.
"This kind of game is tough on the heart," said winning manager Ruben Lampman.
