Grizzlies Throttle Otters, 6-1

The Evansville Otters went down to defeat to Dan Hercik and his Gateway teammates. The final score was 6-1 in favor of the Grizzlies. Hercik, now 1-2, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 1 earned run. Even with the win, the Grizzlies have a dismal 1-16 record.
Tied up with the Otters in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Grizzlies got a boost from right fielder Chris Barss. With a runner on 1st, Barss saw a 1-1 fastball from Mike Keeney and hit a 2-run home run to break the stalemate and put Gateway on top, 3-1.
"Winning is the only thing that really matters," Hercik told the Gateway Bulletin. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."
