Tribbles Edge Islanders, 5-4
|
Coronado got a terrific performance from pitcher Francisco Cereceres, but it wasn't enough to beat the Rosewell Tribbles. Rosewell won the Barack H. Obama Park contest, 5-4. Cereceres came in in relief and pitched to 29 batters for the losing team. Leo Mendoza was the winner. He's now 9-1. The loser was 20-year old right-handed pitcher Angelo Aranda. Alex Planas closed it out for Rosewell, earning his 1st save.
Rosewell used a clutch at-bat from Eric Riddle to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Tribbles ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Riddle.
Rosewell improves to 110-34 with the win. They lead their division by 21½ games.
