Wild Things Continue Hot Start to Season With Win
|
The Washington Wild Things bested the Quebec Capitales by a score of 5-3, with left fielder Bryan Anderson getting the main credit. On the day, Anderson went 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Wild Things. Alex Piedra got the win, improving to 1-0. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 8 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 1. Gabe Lodge sewed up the save, his 2nd.
The Wild Things benefited from a costly error in the top of the seventh. With Devin Leitzell at bat and Washington leading 4-3, the Quebec miscue allowed Washington to plate 1 and take the lead, 5-3.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Anderson told the Washington Gazette.
The Wild Things, now 5-1, have played some good baseball in the early going.
