Boca Raton Dealt 3-2 Defeat
|
Both offenses were relatively subdued at Scripps Field. Fortunately for the Brooklyn Cyclones, though, Omar Duran was able to deliver in the clutch. He was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once, to lead his team past the Boca Raton Fighting Iguanas, 3-2. The winner was Antonio Pimentel, who threw 79 pitches over 5 innings. The right-hander was charged with 1 run on 3 hits. Jorge Torres nailed down the save.
With Brooklyn trailing 1-0 in the top of the fifth, Duran hit a slider from Enrique Moreno for a 3-run home run. It was his 18th home run of the season and put the Cyclones ahead, 3-1.
"The guys come to the ballpark ready," said Cyclones manager Ed Otto. "They're going out there and doing the simple things right."
Brooklyn has now reeled off 8 straight wins.
