The Yuma Varmits soundly defeated the Wichita Storm, 22-1, at The Storm Center, with left fielder Esteban Mendoza a major reason why. He was 4-4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and 3 walks, while scoring 4 and driving in 7 for Yuma. Juan Cruz earned the win, while 16-year old left-handed pitcher Jon Barajas took the loss for Wichita. The Varmits bumped their record to 72-70 with this win.

With Yuma leading 1-0 in the top of the third, Mendoza hit a slider from Jose Villagomez for a 2-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Varmits ahead, 3-0.

"Do what you're good at," said Yuma manager Vinny Aceves. "That's all I ask of the team."
