Mavericks Stumble, Lose to Hornets
The home crowd had a good time watching the El Paso Mavericks and Eureka Hornets get after it.

The Eureka Hornets bumped off the El Paso Mavericks, 8-2, at The Nest. Josh Sweet hit 2 singles and 1 double. He also had 3 RBI. Picking up the win was Bobby Loscalzo. He went 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits. The right--hander struck out 3 and walked 1. Jamie Barlow got the save, his 1st in 1 chances.

Early in the game, second baseman Brian Carr had a 2-run double for Eureka. It was his 6th double of the season and put the Hornets on top, 2-0.

Said losing manager Lorenzo Castillo: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."

The Hornets win now puts them at 47-38.
