Though he had a terrific game, Carlos Villarreal could not prevent his team, the Normal Nutcrackers, from absorbing a loss. Paradise Island won the game, 9-5. Villarreal hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. Robby Barbosa recorded his 5th save for Paradise Island. Normal has now lost 4 straight.

Paradise Island designated hitter Willis Valderrama contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the eighth. With two down, he hit a curveball to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 45th hit of the season and put the Pirates ahead, 7-5.
