The Evansville Otters eked out a 5-4 win versus the Lake Erie Crushers at Warcats Ballpark. Nobody did more than center fielder Kurt Martin, who captured player of the game honors. Evansville reliever Jim McDonough picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Jessie Shelby shouldered the loss. With the loss, Lake Erie is 4-2.

Martin had a game-changing home run in the top of the 13th. On a first pitch fastball from Jessie Shelby, he banged a solo home run to left, giving the Otters a 5-4 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Martin.

"It was a test of wills," said Matt Bell, the Evansville skipper. "I'm glad we came out of it with a win."
