Behind a bravura effort from starter Garry Fairn, the Moonbeam Martians topped the Okanagan Lake Monsters by the score of 9-2 and got their first win in the 2061 Single A World Series. Fairn threw 9.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the Martians. The win moves Moonbeam into a 1-1 tie with Okanagan.

Fairn delivered a quality start for Moonbeam. The 6-foot-3 left-hander allowed 2 earned runs on 5 hits over 9 innings of work.

"Garry is a gamer," said Moonbeam manager Pedro Pérez.

Game 3 is scheduled for Monday at Elks Stadium in Kelowna.
