Caterpillars Drop Another One, 13-5
|
The Brooklyn Cyclones stopped the Easton Caterpillars, 13-5, behind an impressive performance from Franklin Vargas. The 20-year old right fielder made life miserable for Easton pitching. He was 2 for 2 with a double and 3 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Mike Black earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 5 hits in 4 innings. His record is now 5-0. Brooklyn, now 85-54, holds down third place in the RCL R John Mayberry Division.
Ricardo Rosa had a big grand slam home run for the Cyclones in the bottom of the first inning. With Brooklyn leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Josh Burkhart and swatted a home run to right-center. It was his 2nd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cyclones ahead, 5-0.
In postgame comments, Rosa told the Brooklyn News: "Do people still doubt I give 100 percent?"
