The Montreal Jazz wasted no time taking the lead in the Wild Card Round, beating the San Francisco Earthquakes at Golden Gate Park by the score of 5-2. The win gives Montreal a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Jazz left-hander Sam Hickey threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball.

Bob Enriquez came through with a big-time hit for Montreal. The shortstop smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 4-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"We did enough to win," said Enriquez.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.
