Memphis starter Victor Cortez turned in a competent performance at Bandits Grove as the Blues beat the Brownsville Bandits, 7-6. Adam Walsh was credited with the save for Memphis, his 22nd of the season. At 83-57, the Blues find themselves in first place in the TML A Earl Weaver Division.

Kenny Cox delivered a big hit for Memphis. The second baseman drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Blues ahead, 7-4. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.

"I'm happy we won," said Cortez. "That's first and foremost. My goal is for the team to win the day I pitch, however it's done."
