The Amarillo Armadillos started the Divisional Series in dominant fashion, blowing out the host Antioch Coal Miners at The Coal Mine by a score of 13-4 and securing an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Armadillos third baseman James Adkinson went 2 for 5 with 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 4.

With two out in the top of the seventh, Nate Parish barreled up a fastball from Bill Shaughnessy. The result was a 3-run home run, putting the Armadillos in front, 13-2.
