The Eureka Hornets started the Wild Card Round in dominant fashion, blowing out the host Quebec Armada at Lucky 7 Ballpark by a score of 11-2 and securing an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Hornets shortstop Marshall Knapp went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 4.

Eureka used a well-timed hit by Benny Rodriguez to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Hornets ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

Quebec manager Rod Cirilo called the blowout loss "not what we had in mind."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Lucky 7 Ballpark in Quebec City.
