Bison 4-2 Victors Over Hawaii
|
The Hawaii Honu could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Bobby Gilmore into a win. Instead, the Bighorn Bison prevailed, 4-2. Gilmore threw 6.1 innings of 2-hit ball. The winning pitcher was former first round draft pick Gordie White. He tossed 99 pitches over 7 innings, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits. Mike Lake closed it out for his 20th save.
Bighorn took a 3-2 lead on Bob Ferreira's 36th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Ferreira hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Hawaii pitcher Joe Fleury visibly frustrated.
After the game, Bighorn manager Carlos Esparza applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
The Bison, at 52-47, have now won 4 straight.
