Firebirds Triumphant, 6-5, at Albuquerque Sports Stadium

Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Albuquerque Cacti take on the Albany Firebirds.
The Albany Firebirds besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Albuquerque catcher Israel Munoz by beating the Cacti, 6-5, at Albuquerque Sports Stadium. Munoz went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Rod Horta, the winner, is now 9-1. He struck out 5 and walked 2 over 5.2 innings, while allowing 5 runs on 6 hits. Israel Sanchez notched his 14th save of the season.
Albany took control in the top of the sixth. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Jose Vasquez hit a run-scoring single to make it 5-4, Firebirds.
Vasquez told the Albany Daily: "Win or lose, I don't want to see our team outhustled."
Albany's record now stands at 75-65, placing them 4th in the TML AAA Cito Gaston League.
