Almost There: Walnut Creek On Cusp of R1 Triumph After 9-8 Win
Riding the 2-hit performance of designated hitter Mike Duffy, the Walnut Creek Warriors got a road win against the San Francisco Earthquakes, 9-8, in Game 4 of the Round 1. Duffy was 2 for 5 with 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice for the Warriors, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 3 games to 1.

Walnut Creek took advantage of an error in the top of the eighth inning. The game was tied, 8-8, when Dan Edwards hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Warriors in front, 9-8.

"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Walnut Creek manager Armando Medina.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.
