Walnut Creek Pins 6-2 Loss on San Francisco
|
The Walnut Creek Warriors got a strong performance from pitcher Matt White, who stymied the visiting San Francisco Earthquakes en route to a win, 6-2, in Game 2 of the Round 1. The Earthquakes could never get a bead on the right-handed White, who threw 5.2 innings allowing 2 runs. The Warriors now hold a 2-0 in the best-of-7 series.
In the bottom of the fifth, Walnut Creek designated hitter Bobby Tackman had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 2nd and two out, Tackman stroked a 2-run double to left-center. It made the score 5-1, Walnut Creek. For the game, he went 3-3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI.
Tackman attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."
Game 3 is scheduled for Tuesday at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.
