Starr Blasts Stogies, Bison Take Game 6, 6-4
|
The Bighorn Bison and the Havana Stogies will take the Wild Card Round to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation, the Bison beat the Stogies, 6-4, at The Humidor to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Bighorn designated hitter Jay Starr went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
Bighorn used a well-timed hit by Wayne Seare to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Bison ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
Said Bighorn manager Carlos Esparza: "We squared some balls up."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Humidor in Havana.
