Eureka Wins at Home to Take 2-1 Lead in R1
|
Despite a great performance by Bloomington designated hitter Jorge Batista, the Eureka Hornets defeated the Blazers by the score of 8-5 at The Nest. Batista went 3-4 with 2 doubles, while adding 4 RBI, but he could not prevent the Hornets from moving one game closer to the Divisional Series. Eureka now leads the Wild Card Round 2-1.
In the bottom of the fourth, Eureka second baseman Xavier Karin had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 2nd and one out, Karin stroked a 2-run double to center. It made the score 3-1, Eureka. For the game, he went 1 for 3 with a double and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Karin told the Eureka Bulletin.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Nest in Eureka.
