Piedra Excels, But Islanders Win
The Coronado Islanders besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Wichita left fielder Antonio Piedra by beating the Storm, 15-6, at Barack H. Obama Park. Piedra hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Coronado reliever Angel Ochoa picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Domingo Salazar was saddled with the loss. The third-place Islanders lifted their record to 77-60.

Shane Maxon had a timely hit in the bottom of the fifth inning. With no one out and the bases loaded, the Coronado designated hitter hit a run-scoring single. That put the Islanders in front, 5-4.

"We're in a little funk right now and we've just got to get ourselves out of it," said Wichita manager Daniel Carrasco.
