Syracuse Mettle Tested in Tight 4-3 Win
|
Syracuse Fields was the site of some high drama.
The Syracuse Orange Sox downed the Brooklyn Cyclones, 4-3. The hitting star was second baseman Felipe Acuna. Acuna went 2-2 with 2 doubles and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Orange Sox. Rogelio Cardona, credited with the win in relief, is now 5-2. He allowed no runs on no hits in 3.2 innings.
Orlando Aviles was the walk-off hero for Syracuse. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Orange Sox first baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Acuna said.
Syracuse raised its record to 84-48 with the win.
