Pirates Turn Back Islanders, 4-3
The Paradise Island Pirates dumped the Coronado Islanders, 4-3, in large part due to catcher Gerardo Castillo. On the day, Castillo was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Pirates. Picking up the win was Dan Giffen. He went 5.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 7 hits. The right--hander struck out 9 and walked 1. Yamada Anteau got the save, the 7th for him this season.

The Pirates got a big boost from third baseman Willis Valderrama who had a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the first inning off Islanders hurler Melvin Riojas. It was his 19th walk of the season and put Paradise Island on top, 1-0.

After the game, Paradise Island manager Jorge Ávila applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.

Paradise Island is rocking and rolling at 90-41.
