Almost There: Niagara On Cusp of Canadian Baseball League Championship Triumph After 9-5 Win
|
When the games really matter, the Niagara Stars put on their best show, beating the Victoria Capitals by a final score of 9-5. Roy Leger was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Niagara now leads Victoria 3-1 in the best-of-7 affair.
In the top of the fifth, Niagara catcher Calvin Bygrove had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Bygrove stroked a 2-run single to left. It made the score 6-3, Niagara. For the game, he went 2-5 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
Capitals manager Chris Riddle did not take questions after the game, telling assembled reporters that he would hold a press conference "if and when we win the Canadian Baseball League Championship."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ballpark of Chilliwack College in Victoria.
