Varmits Come Up Short at Wichita, 5-4
|
Victor Mojica had an impact in the 5-4 Wichita win over Yuma. The 20-year old center fielder was 1 for 2 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Alex Gonzalez was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 3 of 3 save opportunities. Yes, it was a win for Wichita; but their 11-53 mark is nothing to crow about.
Mojica had a timely hit for Wichita in the bottom of the seventh. With Wichita trailing 3-1, he turned a first pitch fastball into a grand slam home run. It was his 8th home run of the season, making it 5-3, Wichita.
Mojica told the media after that game that the mood in the clubhouse is "extremely positive" after a win like that.
